Our Vision
In 2016, Kari Smith opened The Study Hub in Choctaw after seeing a great need for individualized instruction for students who were struggling in traditional classroom settings. As a teacher working closely with students with learning differences, she often knew exactly what a student needed to succeed but recognized that many schools simply did not have the time or resources to provide that level of targeted support. Kari wanted to create a place where students could receive one-on-one instruction in a positive environment that focused not only on academics, but also on building confidence.
What began as one location with a passion for helping students has grown into multiple locations across Oklahoma serving thousands of students. The Study Hub provides tutoring in reading, math, writing, science, ACT/SAT prep, dyslexia intervention, and more. Every student receives individualized instruction tailored to their unique learning style and academic needs.
In 2023, Dr. Barbara Bayless joined The Study Hub, bringing extensive expertise in dyslexia services, structured literacy, reading intervention, and instructional leadership. With a background as a public school reading specialist, certified dyslexia therapist, and Wilson Reading trainer, Dr. Bayless has helped expand The Study Hub’s evidence-based dyslexia and literacy services. Her passion for explicit instruction and helping struggling readers has strengthened The Study Hub’s mission of helping students thrive academically while gaining confidence in themselves as learners.
Together, Kari Smith and Dr. Barbara Bayless continue to lead The Study Hub with a shared vision: helping students of all ages succeed through individualized, evidence-based instruction and compassionate support.
